Proficiency Training for Pilots
Since its introduction, the iPad has become a staple among pilots in the cockpit. Combined with world-class aviation apps, the iPad brings more information into the general aviation cockpit than in many airliners today.
Since it is so easy to use, many pilots assume it is an easy addition to the cockpit routine. However the Aviation Safety Reporting System (ASRS) database has hundreds of entries where use of the iPad has been a distraction enough to contribute to potential violations. And as with technically advanced avionics, pilots have a tendency to be "heads down" especially if not proficient with the tablet's use.
Crosswind Concepts' Taylor Albrecht has been involved in iPad training since 2011. In cooperation with the folks at MyGoFlight, they have presented their iPad Takes Flight seminar series to thousands of pilots at venues including AirVenture, Sun 'n Fun, HeliExpo to name a few. These seminars have piquied the pilot's interest in becoming proficient.
To help pilots gain proficiency, Crosswinds has created a catalog of classes and learning tracks. It starts with iPad Fundamentals for Aviation and includes other topics listed below.
Our classes are offered in both a classroom setting and as live webinars. Please view the Calendar page for a schedule and sign up here.
