We Bid Adeiu

June 19, 2017 at 11:17 AM

Five years ago, Crosswind Concepts was formed to help pilots become more knowledgeable and confident with their stick-and-rudder skills.  We succeeded in this mission to a large degree by “graduating” several hundred pilots across the nation who are now significantly more skilled in stick-and-rudder techniques thanks to our innovative training syllabus and the amazing Redbird Xwind trainer.

While such success is indisputable, we have also learned that, in terms of business viability, our program is best offered in a large flight school or university where the Xwind training program is visible daily.  So, it is with great regret that we announce the closing of our training facility at Centennial Airport.  We intend to find a great new home for the Xwind trainer, hopefully in the region.

In the meantime, we will continue to help pilots become more confident with stick-and-rudder skills, the piloting challenge that Richard Collins, former editor of Flying Magazine, termed “the hardest thing to do in aviation.”  We will continue offering seminars and classes on a scheduled basis nationally and regionally, plus we’ll be at the 2017 EAA AirVenture Pilot Proficiency Center.  And with the cooperation and support of the Redbird folks themselves, we hope to help other owners of the Redbird Xwind maximize the training benefits offered by this remarkable device.

In the meantime, we thank those who traveled long distances to benefit from our program, along with hundreds of local pilots who made our ongoing seminars and training a rewarding endeavor.  Serving the pilot community in this capacity has been very rewarding for the staff at Crosswind Concepts.

We particularly want to thank Bob Stedman and the team at Independence Aviation for their belief in and support of our business.  It has been an honor to work with such caring and dedicated professionals in the aviation industry.

Should you or someone you know be interested in purchasing our Redbird Xwind trainer, please contact us at 719-581-2010.

Likewise, if you’re interested in scheduling a crosswind seminar or class for pilots in your local area, please give us a call to discuss dates and details.
